Global AI policy is evolving at breakneck speed, and keeping up can feel overwhelming. Governments are busy drafting regulations, companies are racing to deploy new tools, civil society groups are calling for stronger ethical safeguards, and ordinary people just want to understand how these technologies affect their lives. The result is a patchwork of approaches: the EU’s AI Act with compliance deadlines stretching into 2027, the UN’s Global Dialogue on AI Governance aiming to harmonize standards, the U.S. leaning into an innovation-first AI Action Plan, and China tightening controls around data and security. Each path reflects different priorities and values, making the landscape complex even for seasoned experts.
From my own experience working at the intersection of global development and technology policy, I’ve seen how easy it is for stakeholders to get lost in this maze. The pace of regulatory change and the fragmentation of information create real challenges for aligning innovation with accountability. That’s why I’ve put together this Global AI Policy Hub as a curation of my own reflections, and takeaways from across regions. My aim is to make sense of the moving pieces, highlight what matters most, and provide a space where policymakers, companies, civil society, and consumers alike can explore how AI regulation is unfolding worldwide.
Ultimately, this is about charting a path where technological progress goes hand in hand with ethical principles and global development goals.
